Greetings from Finland

Redding a week ago

In my last Finnish blog post I wrote about a winter storm that surprised us here in Redding. Our landlord said that it hasn't snowed this much in 20 years here in the valley. It was exciting even for us Finns.

And actually it was Finnish Independence Day when the snow came. So we celebrated our nation's freedom in snowy California! Here in Redding we had more snow than there was in Helsinki that day.

Even though the snowy landscape was extremely beautiful I'm happy it didn't last long. We didn't come to California from Northern Europe to experience Redding's snowiest winter in 20 years! :D

Okay. We can say that the snow was like greetings from Finland. And last week we got another greeting as well from Finland. My amazing sisters had made kind of a survival kit for us and sent it to here. There was a local small newspaper, Finnish chocolates and chewing gum, children's drawings etc. It was such a joy to get these presents:) There was also a letter from Santa Claus, who by the way lives in Finland, Lapland.

I have heard that Santa is coming by surfboard here in Cali. So we are going to San Diego on Christmas Holiday to see if that's true. Because if it's true I definitely want to see Santa with red surf suit on!
